The Chameleon's Edge

See what others think of this workshop!
Ever wondered what that “special something” is that some of your colleagues seem to have with co-workers and members? How they consistently elicit – without any discernable effort – cooperation, camaraderie, and performance from their associates that surpasses expectations? How they neutralize others’ complaints and handle difficult members? The “special something” they have is called “interpersonal skill” – and the good news is that skills can be learned. The objective of this course is to equip you with the interpersonal skills necessary to ease and optimize your workplace interactions.

During our time together, we’ll study 8 classic styles of workplace behavior (Commander, Drifter, Attacker, Pleaser, Performer, Avoider, Analytical, Achiever). You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize each style quickly
  • Understand how to best motivate each style
  • Provide effective feedback to each style
  • Leverage your risk to the specific ways in which each style can make you vulnerable depending on whether they’re your superior or your subordinate
  • Customize your approach to each style to ease and optimize effective workplace interactions

The most requested television program in the history of Montgomery County Public Access Television, “The Chameleon’s Edge” has been delivered at the annual conferences of numerous associations and corporations and is consistently rated “Best in Conference”. The Society for Human Resource Management has published our article on this topic, and the University of Maryland has included it as part of a management curriculum for PhD candidates for the past eight years.

Augmented by a self-test mechanism, workbooks, colorful caricatures, and a laminated card summarizing the material, this delightfully funny, fast paced, introspective, and highly substantive session promises to provide easy-to-implement tools attendees can begin using immediately to ease and optimize business interactions.
