Versatility: A Prerequisite for Leadership Success

This workshop can be delivered with a focus on top-down relationships for executives or with a focus on up-line, down-line, and peer relationships for managers.

Well informed businesses already know that compensation alone is no longer sufficient to woo or retain talent. They understand that successful recruitment and retention efforts are fast becoming dependent on the intentionally conspicuous presence of alignment in three critical areas:

  • Between career path and individual aspirations
  • Between work environment and individual preferences
  • Between managerial style and the various motivators of diverse individuals

Some leaders have little esteem for what they see as “soft stuff”, citing wages for work as the extent to which they should be expected to accommodate employees. These leaders inflict upon their organizations what I call the Six Costs of Resisting Adaptitude”:

  1. Project delays
  2. Cost overruns
  3. Rework
  4. Missed deadlines
  5. Consulting costs
  6. Productivity losses and opportunity costs

That’s not “soft stuff”- that’s millions of dollars in lost productivity and revenue. The solution is to integrate a sustainable quality of leadership that stimulates and nurtures committed human spirits in the workplace — a quality that elicits emotional maturity and collegiality within even the most pressured and battle-weary organizations.

An essential prerequisite for achieving this quality of leadership is “Versatility” because it enables you to construct and communicate messages that resonate with a diverse group of individuals, all of whom are wired differently, inspiring them to adjust their behavior toward the achievement of specific results. Note, though, that commitment driven behavioral change cannot be commanded; it must be elicited.

This session reveals how the techniques comprising Versatility achieve resonant messaging. During our time together, using tough messages that attendees actually have to deliver in the near future, we’ll demonstrate how the application of these techniques achieves resonance with each of seven key motivators, making staff want to comply.

Master the tools of Versatility, and through the voluntary choice of each individual you’ll gain access to an increased level of efficacy and productivity. Now that’s not soft stuff!
